The Facts on Carpet Mold Removal

Mold is a dangerous fungus that can appear anywhere in the home. The carpet is one of the most common places that it can appear. If it is not removed it can destroy a carpet and quite quickly. The first thing you need to do when removing mold is to stay protected. You need to wear gloves, a face mask, and special clothing that will keep your legs and arms protected. All this is necessary as mold can be quite toxic. Also, if you or someone close to you has allergies extra protection will be needed.

The next step for carpet mold removal is to check how far it has traveled and find all the areas which it has infected. Then it needs to be cleaned thoroughly with a very strong detergent. Make sure the entire infected area is soaked enough for the detergent to really sink in and do its job. If after a short period of time you find the mold is not shifting then it would be recommendable to change to bleach. Bleach is extra tough on fungus like this.

The final stage in the carpet mold removal process is to scrub with a large broom or brush. Do this only after you have allowed the bleach or detergent to sink in for at least 15 minutes. Mold can be quite tough. Start scrubbing roughly with your brush and when you see some progress rinse once more with warm water. This should easily start to make the mold disappear from your carpet. Finally, let your carpet dry. Open all the windows to ventilate and let clean air back in the room.
